Have a wedding coming up?  Are you planning a wedding candy buffet?  These gorgeous buffets or bars have become a centerpiece to today's receptions and are appreciated by guests of all ages.  While you can have a professional plan yours, many brides are opting to create their own wedding candy buffet and have friends or relatives help to arrange it during the reception.

It actually takes more planning to create a wedding candy buffet than many brides realize, and someone without a good eye for this can find it to be a challenge.  They may not realize how much candy it takes to fill all those glass containers and may not think to shop early enough to give themselves time to go back for more.  They also may not realize how to plan out that wedding candy buffet so that it looks professional and polished and like a true centerpiece to the reception.

While there are many details to remember when planning a wedding candy buffet, there are two simple steps that many brides overlook when creating their own buffet.  These simple steps are part of what makes it look attractive and professional.

Labels and Signs

The labels and signs you use for your wedding candy buffet are more than just informative; they should be decorative as well.  Check out pictures of other buffets you see that you like and you'll notice the labels are large, fancy, and often have borders or even ribbons around them.  Give yourself plenty of time to create these labels; use the fonts you use on your wedding invitation or something similar.  Choose ribbons that match the colors of your wedding as well.

For jars and containers that do not have a wide front on which you can add a label, make up a small sign you can put on the table in front of it.  Use poster board or thick paper so you can fold it over like a tent card.  You never want anything at your wedding candy buffet to be without a proper label, so ensure everything has one.  Just also ensure that those labels and signs are not plain and boring!

Risers

When you see pictures of a professionally presented wedding candy buffet, you may notice that some containers are propped up or are on risers.  This is important as it allows access to containers in the back of the table and help to give the entire buffet more visual appeal.  Without these risers your wedding candy buffet may simply look like a table with candy and not a true showcase for the reception.

Since you'll probably slide them under a tablecloth and they'll be out of site, your risers can really be anything that is sturdy enough to prop up your containers, including books, storage containers, and boxes.  Remember to test them out beforehand with candy in the jar so you know it's strong enough to hold the container.  You should always do a mockup of your wedding candy buffet before your wedding and this will help you to see if you need more candy, if you need more decorative items on the table, and if your risers are sturdy enough as well.
